    GUIDE BIOGRAPHY

    Nikki GeorgeNikki George

Nikki is our most experienced guide. She is married and has been living in the “Land of the Unexpected” since 2002.

Growing up in Zimbabwe, Nikki developed a passion for nature, adventure and cultural diversity.

Working as one of Australia's top dive instructors for over a decade, she has well developed people skills, is highly qualified (Wilderness First Aid and Advanced Life Support) and experienced in the field of risk management and medical care.

Nikki has worked extensively in diving throughout Asia and the Pacific and was the regular scuba diving presenter on a well known Channel 9 outdoors lifestyle television series.

Living in Port Moresby, Nikki enjoys a great relationship with the people of PNG, has a deep understanding of their cultural diversity and natural beauty of their country.

As PNG Trekking Adventures, resident war historian, Nikki's knowledge of the World War Two history in Papua New Guinea is outstanding and will leave an indelible mark on your experience.

Nikki will take you to unknown, historically significant off track sites, revealing unspoiled war artifacts that she has discovered during previous exploratory treks.

Nikki has led all of our treks numerous times (from extreme to historical journeys), and is a favourite of the villagers (and Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels) you will meet along the way.

Anybody that has trekked with Nikki has found it to be a most rewarding experience if not a life changing one.

The majority of our repeat clients request Nikki as their guide.

To us this is the stamp of approval attesting to her high standards and extreme professionalism when out in the field.

She can tell you some great stories about the 1920s quest for gold in cannibal country and the amazing feats of the early pilots who made aviation history flying into the wild mountainous region we visit on our Skindiwai/Black Cat Track. Her special knowledge of the Kokoda track and the events that led up to the “war on our doorstep” will help bring to life the suffering and heroism of the Australian soldiers as you follow in their footsteps.

She has trekked all over the world from New Zealand to Nepal has enjoyed rock-climbing, canyoning, whitewater rafting, skiing and non technical mountain climbing. She is also is a keen scuba diver and says diving is the best way to relax after a long trek in the Owen Stanley ranges. Maureen holds a current certificate in Remote Area First Aid.
