PORT MORESBY WEEKENDER – DOE VILLAGE ITINERARY

Saturday – Meet at Yacht Club car park 7am

From there we will sort out who takes vehicles. Please note you need a 4WD to get into the village where we park.

If you require transport please contact us.

We will drive up to village and start trekking by 9:30am latest

It is an easy 3-4 hour of meandering along the old disused Hubert Murray Highway. Often out in the sun and often under the jungle canopy.

It will take approximately 3-4 hours to walk in to the village. We will be taking a break every couple of hours, stopping for lunch and having a swim in the beautiful Musgrave River.

We should be at village between 1-2pm.

For those of you with plenty of energy to burn we will send you off up to the “Bat Cave” for a look. Is a 45min quite steep trek up to the cave. It is well worth the effort and a truly unique experience.

For those of you who just want to relax, go swimming meander around the village. Get the boys to make you a brew and sit back and relax. Enjoy being out of Port Moresby.

You can pitch a tent or sleep in the guest haus wind.

The boys will make a camp fire for us to sit around and cook your dinner.

We like to be up and walking by 6am Sunday morning and be back at village car park by 10am and back in Port Moresby around noon.

This truly is a very relaxing weekend and well worth the effort. This is a great walk to go on if you are training for Kokoda as it gives you an opportunity to test out your gear.
