    TUFI TRADITIONAL OUTRIGGER SAFARI ITINERARY

The Tufi region is the undiscovered Mecca for adventure enthusiasts. Offering kayaking, trekking and world class diving at the Tufi Dive/Adventure Resort.

DAY 1 Fly Port Moresby to Tufi
On arrival at Port Moresby you will be met by Pam Christie/Nikky Rohan, your outrigger safari guide. We will fly to Tufi which takes approximately 1 hour. Today we will assemble gear and kayaks. Pack the gear into dry bags. The rest of the day or evening is at our leisure. You may like to go snorkeling down at the Tufi Resort if time permits go for short paddle up the fjord or just relax around the pool.

DAY 2 PADDLE TO FIRST VILLAGE
We rise early and paddle to the first guesthouse—the beginning of our exploration of this amazing volcanic tropical fjord system. Breakfasts and dinners will be based on “local food” primarily fish, bananas, root crops, and fruit for dinners; coffee/tea, fruit etc for breakfasts. For lunch we will eat dry food we bring with us (nuts, energy bars, cookies) supplemented with local fruit. We will be sleeping inside the simple thatched guesthouse. (Our stays at guesthouses afford personalized relationships and family interaction with the locals.) Today we paddle the short distance to Kofura Village

DAY 3 PADDLE TO SECOND VILLAGE
Today we kayak up the fjord. Visit exquisite waterfalls plunging into the sea, and explore mangrove river systems. Hope to see Frigate birds, reef egrets, sea eagles, and kingfishers. We will see corals, sponges, and fish while snorkeling in these clear warm waters. (The snorkeling is in calm water and suitable for a beginner.)

DAY 4 PADDLE TO THIRD VILLAGE
We paddle along the shoreline enjoying the unique and beautiful scenery until we arrive at the next Village. This village guesthouse has the most exquisite setting sitting on the point looking out over the ocean. Two beautiful beaches at your back door step to swim or snorkel in.

DAY 5 PADDLE TO FOURTH VILLAGE
We meander our way up the cost to Jebo Village. Again another superbly situated guest house right on the beach with access to the fjord and beautiful waterfalls. Or more snorkeling on a pristine reef.

DAY 6 PADDLE BACK TO TUFI RESORT
Today we are on the ocean by 6am and paddle all the way back to Tufi Resort. On arrival at the resort we have the luxury of a hot shower and cold drinks.

    DAY 7
Today you will catch your flight back to Port Moresby or you may have chosen to stay on at the Resort to experience some of the worlds best diving.

OPTIONAL EXTRA – PRICE ON APPLICATION

TREK FROM JEBO VILLAGE TO TAMARI VILLAGE
We start trekking early this morning. The first few hours is through open Kunai grass followed by intermittent splashes of jungle. Outstanding views looking back from where we have come over the fiords. We will camp overnight beside the Tamari River. This trek is long and hard approximately 10-11 hrs but it is well worth the effort if you are a trekking enthusiast.

    DAY 7
This morning we trek the short distance to Tamari Village. The village is located by the ocean. The rest of the day will be spent in the village. The village will perform a ‘sing sing’ which is a cultural dance and demonstrate tapa cloth making. Later in the afternoon the Tufi Resort boat will pick us up and take us back to the Resort.

    DAY 8
Today you will catch your flight back to Port Moresby or you may have chosen to stay on at the resort and experience some of the best diving in the world.
