Our Story – DISCOVER NOW, REMEMBER FOREVER
As passionate as ever about Papua New Guinea are founders Pam Christie and Mark Hitchcock.
Pam and Mark are the principals of the company and have lived in Papua New Guinea “The Land of the Unexpected” based in Port Moresby since 1990, which gives them a wide knowledge and understanding of local conditions, customs and traditions.
PNG Trekking Adventures approaches adventures in PNG on a personal level, focusing on the individual experience for our guests. Treks are limited to 10 - 15 people so you enjoy a more exclusive journey where you are an individual and not just part of a large group. The exception to this is if it is a corporate/club or group of family or friends then we would take a larger group. Our focus is on active adventure travel, getting out there and experiencing our beautiful country and most importantly of all having fun.
Our treks suit active open minded people of all ages who have a flexible approach to travel.
None of our treks are marathon events, they are rewarding holidays. Of course, as with all outdoor activities, the fitter you are and the more you take your time, the more you will enjoy your holiday.
We refined the concept of exploring by walking, recognizing that a new generation of discerning adventure travelers are out there ready to explore the unexplored. The idea has caught people’s imaginations. And as our researchers discovered fascinating areas are better explored on foot.
Encouraged by an enthusiastic group of loyal travelers – and an ever-widening circle of people who enjoy the PNG Trekking Adventures style – PNG Trekking Adventures has grown steadily, while maintaining the fundamental values that make us unique and have guided us since the beginning. We remain committed to being the best rather than the biggest.
Our trip dates are not set in stone. We are flexible and will do our very best to work with you so you are able to join us on one of our treks.
Safety is a primary concern this is why we compliment our trips with local guides and porters. Our training and experience in trekking and alpine climbing along with our understanding of local conditions ensures that safety is our up most priority at all times.
Pam brings the same enthusiasm and attention to detail to overseeing PNG Trekking Adventure’s day-to-day operations and is constantly seeking out great new places to walk.
Mark is a key advisor on all aspects of the business and plays an important role in shaping PNG Trekking Adventures strategy. Mark remains on the ground in Port Moresby when treks are in progress providing an important link with trekking groups.
