Profile - JASON PINI
Jason’s family immigrated to Papua New Guinea from Australia after WWII. Jason being 3rd generation and now his 3 month old daughter is carrying on the Pini line in this country.
The Pini family are true pioneers and adventurers of Papua New Guinea. They came to this country as surveyors and spent many years surveying this incredible land, often in a very inhospitable environment.
Jason’s brother Ryan being the only Papua New Guinean to have ever won a Gold medal for PNG in swimming at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Jason works in the family surveying and stationery business but is also well known in this country for his outstanding photography. He is contracted by the Papuan New Guinean government on a regular basis to attend sporting and cultural events as the official photographer.
He has spent a lot of time traveling throughout PNG taking photo’s that will in years to come be part of our history. These people in their traditional dress as we know it now will know longer exist.
He also works closely with the Surfing Association of PNG, building costal village economies through sustainable surfing ecotourism.
